Rocking my old school script Chicago Bulls Jordan jersey I decided to have some fun with the Wings fans and see what they thought of Marian Hossa as well as see if I could get some of them to give me their best robot dance or impression of Chewbacca. The results were as phenomenal as Miguel’s Hulk Hogan like leg drop last night.

Yes I can dunk. It isn’t easy for me and it’s not pretty. I’m also 6 foot 3 and have the gangly arms of an orangutan. If I had to pick my dunk package in NBA 2K it would be ‘rim grazer.’ For the most part I live my life fairly content with my hops. Then I see videos of these guys and I become clinically depressed.

To help make up for my lack of hops I thought it would be appropriate to show videos of 5 ballers who’s verticals make me sad.

1. Jacob Tucker is the first featured baller on my list. He is 5 foot 10 and recently won the college slam dunk contest in 2011. I’m not going to tell you any of these guys’ verticals because it would put me back in that dark place.

2. Kenny Dobbs is the next baller I have on my list. He has the unique combination of swag and also some of the most impressive dunks I have ever seen. He is 6 foot 3 but if you add the length of his dreadlocks to his overall height, he has got to be over 7 feet.

3. The third dunker on my list goes by the name of Air Up There. Here’s him doing a 720 dunk, ’nuff said.

4. This next dunker is the only one on my list who is in the NBA. James White actually competed in this years NBA dunk contest. He failed miserably. However, I was blown away when I saw this video of White warming up for the 2006 NCAA Slam Dunk Contest. The best part of this video is that even with how insanely high White jumps here, Dee Brown still botches the toss.

5. Last but not least, this baller goes by the name of ‘Golden Child.’ That’s right, ‘Golden Child.’ I had never heard of him until conducting my ‘intellectual’ research on this subject. He’s legit.

I don’t know about you guys, but I am going to go and do a million calf raises right now.

Tonight one third of the original six go head to head to start the second round of the NHL playoffs. The Presidents trophy winning Chicago Blackhawks versus the hated, 7th seeded, soon to be non-divisional rival Detroit Red Wings. If you’re a Hawks fan there is a lot to be excited about. Most importantly, you want to send the Wings packing early for the Eastern Conference as quick as getting your mother-in-law on the road back home.

The most exciting player in the shoot-outs for the Blackhawks is good old number 88 Patrick Kane. Goalies hate him, fear him and try not to look stupid while defending the crease. Here’s a compilation of shootout goals by Kaner, the first being against Jimmy Howard. After that embarrassment I am pretty confident Jimmy Howard had to seek professional help to have the courage and strength to get back in net. Here’s to #88 doing what he does best, making sick moves and having goalies look stupid.

There may not be as many fights as we all would like in this playoff series, but in the storied history of these two franchises one great pugilist has walked on both sides of the fence. The late Bob Probert, one of the greatest gatherers of penalty minutes in the history of the NHL and a man who never missed a line, both on and off the ice. Here is a video that shows Probbie all geeked up and doing what he does best, kicking ass for both teams in red.

The sports birthdays for May 15 include John Smoltz, Heisman winner Desmond Howard, our favorite “alleged” murdering preacher Ray Lewis, and Emmitt Smith. A ton of sports studs on this day but the Holy Grail is an equal split between a giant bust, Ryan Leaf, and a baseball Hall of Famer with the greatest story ever about crapping his pants in Las Vegas, George Brett.

Ryan Leaf is widely considered to be one of the biggest busts in the history of American sports. A top pick out of Washington State, drafted by the Chargers, the world quickly learned he was as capable of playing football as Michael Jordan was of playing baseball. Currently the most popular inmate in the Montana State penal system. Here’s a video showing Ryan Leaf’s great people skills.

Last but not least, the funniest crapping his pants conversation I have ever heard coming from the mouth of Hall of Famer George Brett. George took the intiative to let the world know just how bad dropping a deuce in your pants and trying to hold it in can be. This is one of my favorite videos ever.

Andrew Wiggins, the number one overall high school basket recruit who is from Canada, just committed to play ball for the Kansas Jayhawks. He’s a one and done and assuming all things stay the same he’ll be the number one overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft. He’s been talked about like he invented Tivo, the Red Zone Channel, and iPhones and he throws down in game dunks ala Isaiah Rider in the Slam Dunk Contest. He’s at the Kobe Bryant/in his prime Tracy McGrady level (potentially) and there are NBA execs that have said they’d give Wiggins a max deal right now. Ball So Hard my friend.

If that doesn’t have enough hype built in I don’t know what does. Let’s see what all the hype is about by dropping 5 videos that show why Andrew Wiggins is such a baller.

Andrew Wiggins Official Senior Year Hoopsmixtape

One day I wish a player like this would forgo his one year of college and instead play for the AND 1 Tour. Could you imagine him throwing down 720 dunks with Hot Sauce and Spyda instead of following orders from Bill Self. That would be dope.

Andrew Wiggins responds to overrated chants and goes off

This might have been the easiest sell based on the the title of a video ever. With hype comes expectations. The great meet those expectations and take a dump on opposing fans. This is one of those instances.

Andrew Wiggins at LeBron James Skills Academy

I don’t know what the LeBron James Skills Academy is but I’m guessing it’s the Tom Emanski’s Defensive Drills of basketball. Wiggins owns this academy like Craig Sager does his style.

4 Sick Andrew Wiggins Dunks at the 2012 Charlotte Hoops Challenge

Tim Hardaway killer crossover some 5 food 8 white kid and I’m mildly impressed. What I want to know is how does this cat throw down? Let’s just say that if Brent Barry won an NBA Slam Dunk contest Andrew Wiggins should win 10.

Andrew Wiggins as a Sophomore

You aren’t a once in a generation player without being able to dominate from literally the second you come out of the womb. My Sophomore year in high school I was hoping to be able to touch the middle of the net. Andrew Wiggins was eating people, throwing Kevin Garnett like dunks, and already having threesomes.

Shout out to BallisLife.com for a lot of these videos. They are doing some good work with the baller stuff.

The NHL playoffs are heating up like nailing two from way downtown in NBA Jams. Here are five hockey videos about fans jumping the glass or about a current storyline within this years NHL playoffs.

This is how Dan Bylsma should react after the Penguins loss last night

Marc-Andre Fleury gave another dumpster fire performance in net for the Penguins last night. He’s not the only one that deserves blame but the soft goals that he’s given up most certainly have not helped the cause. The Penguins could have swept this series just as easily as they could be down 3-1 right now. If I’m Bylsma I’m going nuts. There’s too much talent on the team to be playing like this.

Frank Pietrangelo “The Save”

This save by Pietrangelo is the opposite of how Marc-Andre Fleury has been in net. Include me in the camp that believes that Tomas Vokun should take the net for the Pens in Game 5.

Bruins fan jumps on ice, gets crushed by ref

Of all the sports to rush the field/ice/court hockey is definitely the hardest to do and lowest on the totem pole that I’d want to do. Climbing over the boards would be difficult, once you are on the ice you are going to be walking like someone just threw banana peels at you in Mario Kart, and since there are virtually no exits at all you are certainly going to get caught and arrested. Getting leveled by the ref is definitely not one of the options that this guy thought was going to happen but for all of us we are sure glad that it did.

Rob Ray pounds a fan in Quebec who jumps on the ice

If the first video of the guy who jumped the glass getting crushed by the ref doesn’t deter you from jumping on the ice then this one certainly will. When jumping over the glass why in your right mind would you head immediately over to the opposing bench? This makes less sense than Rick DiPietro’s contract and the Red Sox trading Babe Ruth combined. To make a bad situation even worse, on the bench for the Sabres is hockey tough guy Rob Ray. He would definitely be one of the least people in the world that I’d want to fight and that is very evident as he goes to town on this fan. Sometimes doing something stupid is worth it so that you can tell the story about it. This is not one of those instances.

Tie Domi fights fan in Philly in penalty box

For some people it takes seeing things a few times before they learn. As if getting leveled by the ref and getting pummeled by Rob Ray isn’t enough of an example of why fans should stay behind the glass at a hockey game then let this be the final lesson. Rob Ray is one of the five players in the NHL that I’d least like to fight. Number one or number two (depending on where I’d rank Bob Probert) would be fighting Tie Domi. I would rather fight a ravenous tiger from the jungle than Tie Domi. Why in your right mind you would try and jump over the glass to fight him I have no clue. The best case scenario of how this will unfold is that you get two black eyes and you get arrested. Yes, BEST CASE. Freaking hockey fans getting weird.

I firmly believe the Chicago Blackhawks have the best rendition and tradition for The Star Spangled Banner not only in the NHL but in all of sports. I literally get goosebumps every time I go to the United Center; proudly standing and going absolutely bonkers during National Anthem. Getting to the game early and in my seat so I don’t miss it is one of the few things in my life I am ALWAYS on time for. I’m late to work far too much. Fantasy drafts, yup. Late for dinner dates, that’s a layup. Jim Cornelison belting out The Star Spangled Banner at a Hawks game, perfect attendance.

Jim Cornelison is the Star Spangled Badass who’s ridiculous tenor voice amps up the crowd to arena shaking levels every Blackhawks home game. He started singing the anthem at home games for the Blackhawks in 1996 part time, and has been doing it full time since 2007. He’s so good the Bears and Bulls hire him as an anthem mercenary for home playoff games.

As a red blooded American nothing makes me more proud than twenty thousand strangers coming together to hoot & holler for the good old U S of A, and trust me, they do it better than anyone in the Windy City. I currently reside in the great city of Chicago but I wasn’t born here, and I never lived here until after college so there’s no bias or hidden agenda’s tainting my opinion on this subject. Seriously, this anthem makes me feel like a combination of Maximus Decimus Meridius in the Collesium mixed with King Leonidas kicking nerds into the Pit of Death.

If you’re not a Blackhawks fan, or have never heard of this legendary tradition, take a gander at the below video I shot this past Tuesday at “The Madhouse on Madison” before the Blackhawks playoff opener vs the Wild. Chicago fans have certainly earned that arena monicker and the anthem is what fuels the raucous atmosphere and sets the table for fans to create a great home ice advantage. If this doesn’t get you amped, I’d like you to please punch yourself in the face and move to either Canada or Europe. Maybe somewhere exists where they’ve never heard of America, go there, I’m sure they be thrilled to have you.

So, what do you think? Do you agree it’s the best rendition you’ve seen? Maybe you’re privy to another team/city’s awesome tradition for The Star Spangled Banner- if so, let us know below.

USA! USA! USA!

I love baseball but watch games very infrequently. I’m more of a fantasy baseball, watch Baseball Tonight and MLB Network highlights, stat nerd type of fan (which could stem from me rooting for the Pirates). Here are 5 baseball videos that entertained me.

Will Clark fights Ozzie Smith and Jose Oquendo

Back in the day baseball fights used to be so much better. Unless Kyle Farnsworth or Carlos Quentin are involved it usually ends up being as physical as a wine social.

This is why Pirates fans liked Jose Lind

Today (May 1) is Jose Lind’s birthday. He only had 9 career home runs. At least he could jump over a person.

Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds being friendly

Number of guys that’s I’ve picked up while horsing around. Zero. Must be a steroids fraternity thing.

Best baseball swings in slow motion

No one has a sweeter swing than Ken Griffey Jr.

Bo Jackson amazing catch and throw

Ball. So. Hard. Damn Bo. How you gonna do Carlton Fisk like that?

Located in between the era of Dr. J and Air Jordan dunks is the Hick from French Lick throwing down the rock. Larry Bird dunking is kind of like the unicorn of the sports world because it was so rare that it happened. Thanks to modern technology, we’re just a YouTube search tab away from seeing the glory of the original white man that could jump. Yeah, he could shoot the lights out on any given night, but Larry Bird dunking highlights are my favorite. This one’s for you Dad.

I decided to watch a few random videos from the world of sports that I thought yinz would enjoy. Simple as that.

Kate Upton doing the Cat Daddy

This never gets old and I figured you wouldn’t mind seeing this again. Number of times I’ve watched this Kate Upton Cat Daddy video: probably 20. It’s not creepy until you get to 100.

Mike Modano getting dropped while in a neck brace on a stretcher

This is an oldie but goodie that I’ve probably watched 20 times as well. I just can’t believe that two people could be that careless at a job that requires the upmost amount of care. On top of that it’s while holding one of the greatest United States hockey players ever and being recorded on National TV.

Who will fight Ric Flair at Wrestle Mania?

Anyone else notice Hulk Hogan ripping off Bret the Hitman Hart’s tag line? Also, Sycho Sid still scares the crap out of me.

James Harden talking trash to Ray Allen

“You’re the greatest of all time but this is my time”.

Shaq welcomes Andrew Bynum to the NBA

If I’m an NBA team I want nothing to do with Andrew Bynum. Let him be someone else’s problem.

Very few of us actually practice them, we aren’t expected to be good at it, yet sometimes you just have a natural gift for it. Those things that I’m speaking of are doing the robot (the dance), doing an impression of Chewbacca, and doing an impression of Harry Caray.

Since we were in Wrigley for Cubs Opening Day it only seemed fit that we’d ask Chicago Cubs fans to give us their best Harry Caray impressions. Many Cubs fans were gun shy and wouldn’t step up to the plate but we were able to find a few brave souls that were willing to lend us their pipes for a few seconds to honor one of the most iconic baseball announcers of all time.

Against the San Jose Sharks he puts some magical moves on Logan Couture that break his ankles and sends him flopping like Shane Battier. Like dropping the mic or throwing the ball into the stands, had Datsyuk been the ultimate showman he would have just flicked the puck over the boards, taken a 2 minute penalty for delay of game, and went straight to the penalty box. That my friends is baller.

Florida Gulf Coast is the talk of the sports world right now. They are the first 15-seed to make it to the Sweet 16 and they are doing it with a swagger that would make Gary Payton proud. Up until a few days ago 99.9% of us didn’t know that this school even existed. That’s why I decided to take it upon myself to do some digging and see what else I could find about this paradise they call college. Here are 3 videos showing why you should attend Florida Gulf Coast University.

Living in the College Paradise!

They had me at Coolio’s Gangsta’s Paradise. FGCU’s basketball team is debunking the myth that white men can’t jump but DAMN. The white men can’t rap stereotype is definitely alive and well. The rapping aside this video is fantastic and does a great job of selling FGCU. Gigantic joints, being academically impaired and driving a yellow Corvette are all high on the list of what incoming freshman are looking for these days.

Extracurricular Activities and Unique Classes

FGCU is such an awesome school that “the Wobble” is actually a class that you can take there (that statement may or may not be factually correct). Talk about keeping things fresh and expanding what a learning environment can really be.

Also, you are telling me they have an outdoor climbing wall outside of their dorms AND they are steps away from the beach? Where do I sign up!

Nightlife

If you like grinding on chicks at the bar then you are going to love FGCU.

Go Eagles!

There are going to be countless “best buzzer beats” or “Cinderella moments” articles that come out that are going to be dope. I thought that it would be fun to dig a little deeper and drop two March Madness videos on you that are sneaky good.

The first is Vermont’s TJ Sorrentine draining a three “from the parking lot” vs Syracuse with Gus Johnson calling the game. Gus Johnson + Cinderella + Dell Curry range = phenomenal.

The second is a video of Steve Nash when he was a Freshman at Santa Clara. They were on the verge of closing out Arizona with Steve Nash, who up until that time had been perfect from the line, shooting two free throws to ice it. Steve Nash is second All-Time in NBA history in career free throw percentage. What happens next is something that you might never have seen before.

He was drafted 2nd overall by the Vancouver Grizzlies in the 2000 NBA Draft ahead of the likes of well…no one in particular. The 2000 NBA Draft was pretty awful. Darius Miles, Marcus Fizer, DeMarr Johnson, Chris Mihm, Keyon Dooling. That’s what we are working with. The best players from the first round were probably Mike Miller and Jamal Crawford. Not exactly the Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh draft class. Anyways, Stromile Swift amounted to no more than a guy that could dunk really hard (like a higher priced Darvin Ham). Luckily for us that’s pretty entertaining. That’s why we wanted to put together a compilation of some of the monster dunks that Stromile Swift has thrown down. Had his performance been tied to how well he could rock the rim then he would have been a Hall of Famer. Unfortunately this isn’t NBA Jams.

The Chicago Blackhawks are straight spitting fire right now as they are 17-0-3 in their first 20 games. Dare I say that they’ve been damn near “perfect” as they’ve earned a point in every game that they’ve played so far. Up until now there has only been one athlete that has been able to carry the moniker of “perfect”. This guy could throw 50 yard passes to himself, he hit a home run every time he swung the bat, and every shot that he made went in. I’m talking about none other than Mr. Perfect. Below is a video montage showing him display how perfect he is.

Any opportunity I have to infuse the world of sports with 90′s WWF wrestling we are going to take. Do I believe that the Blackhawks are going to keep up this pace and get a point in every game for the reset of the season? Hell ya. If you take it one game at a time I don’t see why this can’t happen. Plus, if you ask yourself “WWMPD?” (What Would Mr Perfect Do) the answer would be “keep on winning”. That’s the only way to be perfect.

What the Blackhawks need now is a finishing move like the Perfect Plex and it’ll be a done deal.

While we are talking Chicago sports I’d like to give a shout out to Wrigleyville Sports. They were a sponsor of the Rock a Jersey party that we threw last weekend. Both us and the Bacon Babe of the party (who won a $50 giftcard) were thrilled to have them be a part of the event. If you are looking to step up your Bulls or Blackhawks gear then check them out. They’ve got some sweet deals going on.

At our Rock a Jersey party on Saturday we had everyone write down the name of a random athlete on a name tag and it was a trip. I took this concept to Twitter using hashtag #randomathlete and people jumped on board and started throwing random athletes out like crazy. Before I knew it I had spent the last hour of my life doing nothing but listing off players names that haven’t been mentioned in 5+ years and it was a blast. The more random the player that was thrown out the funnier and more entertaining it was.

Today is a glorious day. It is a day in which we celebrate the birthday of the 16-time World Champion…the man born with a Golden Spoon…the man who taught us “to be the man you’ve gotta beat the man”…the man who’s alligator shoes cost more than the house you are living in. I am speaking of course about the Nature Boy Ric Flair. Natche’ is the wrestling version of watching Die Hard or Bloodsport, he never stops being awesome. I thought that I’d do my best to honor the Nature Boy Ric Flair by giving you 5 videos that exemplify why he is so awesome. Enjoy. WOOOOOOOO!

Nothing but Ric Flair Wooing. WOOOO!

WOOOOOOOO!

The Nature Boy strutting and going nuts with Mean Gene. WOOOO!

This video shows why Natche’ is so freaking awesome. He has the ability to go completely bat shit nuts infront of millions all for our enjoyment. Bravo Natche’, Bravo!

Ric Flair’s Entrance from Great American Bash (1989)

It’s debatable what the best wrestling entrance music ever is. On my shortlist would be (in no order) Hulk Hogan, “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels, the nWo/DX (if we are going with a stable), and of course Ric Flair. He was the better and classier version of Ravishing Rick Rude. Both guys loved to talk about how awesome they were and how the ladies wanted to get all up on that but everyone only believed Natche’. WOOOO!

Nothing but Ric Flair’s trademark flips over the top rope

There is more drama and theatrics in watching a Ric Flair match than there is in watching Gilmore Girls. I guess that’s what hooked us all in. No one can do the flip over the ropes like Natche’. The WWF (I refuse to call it WWE since I stopped watching wrestling before they acquired WCW and before the World Widelife Foundation made them change their name) should retire this move like baseball did Jackie Robinson’s #42.

The best Ric Flair Quotes

Before the Rock and HBK whipped crowds into a frenzy with their mic skills there was the Nature Boy. He is the gold standard for promo videos and the mark at which all wrestlers should be measured by. From these promos we got some of the best and most quotable lines ever. Long after Ric Flair is gone people will still be saying “to be the man you have to beat the man”. Damn right!

There’s only one proper way to end an article about the Nature Boy Ric Flair. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I want to hear from you. Were you a fan of the Nature Boy Ric Flair? What’s your favorite memory from his wrasslin’ days? Put your thoughts in the comments or hit us up on Twitter or Facebook.

It drives me nuts when commercials insult my intelligence or are just unrealistic. This Mike’s Hard Lemonade commercial is a great example of this and here’s a few reasons why.

It is inferred that this guy is the starting pitcher. He has given up 9 hits and 12 runs in 2 innings including just giving up a 3 run bomb. What does it take for his Manager to pull him from the game? My only guess is that Dusty Baker is somehow the Manager, this guy is a young stud arm, and he’s waiting until after 100 pitches to pull him.

The catcher scolds the pitcher for only throwing curveballs but the last time I checked the catcher suggests to him what to throw. You’d think that after the pitcher shakes off every pitch other than the curveball that there already would have been a meeting at the mound.

The pitcher thinks that his curveball is working despite giving up 12 runs with zero errors. Had there been a few errors and a good chunk of those runs were unearned then maybe he has an argument. However, this isn’t the 85′ Astros who gave up 16 unearned runs en route to a 16-5 defeat. Therefore this guy is just dumb.

Here’s the scenario, you are at a baseball game with three other friends and it’s your turn to buy the next round. You come back to the seats with four Mike’s Hard Lemonade’s. How do your friends react….that’s what I thought. Mike’s Hard definitely chose the wrong scenario for this commercial because no guy drinks Mike’s Hard in public unless he is walking across a desert and is about to die of thirst. Even then he’d look both ways and possibly opt to try and suck out the juice of a cactus first.

Give me some sick Datsyuk goals where he makes the best hockey players in the world look like they belong in the AHL. Last night against the Nashville Predators that happened as he went beastmode on their D en route to this amazing goal. That’s what you call going hard in the Motha f’n Paint!

Yesterday NBA TV was running an NBA Slam Dunk Contest marathon, which is pretty much porn for a sports degenerate like myself. They showed the 1988 MJ vs Dominique dunk contest directly after the 2000 Vinansity dunk contest. I have no doubt that these are the best two dunk contests ever. In 1988 Michael Jordan vs Dominique Wilkins was the most epic back and forth battle in slam dunk history. In 2000 Vince Carter put on the most unbelievable display of dunks that the world has ever seen.

So the real question is which year was the greatest in NBA Slam Dunk Contest history? I’ve included a video of each so that you can judge for yourself. At the end of the article I’d love to hear which one you think is greater and why.

1988 – Michael Jordan vs Dominique Wilkins in Chicago Stadium

I was raised in Pittsburgh, was seven years old at the time, and the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest was the most influential basketball moment of my life and molded me into who I am today (no joke). I created Bacon Sports on my love for late 80′s/90′s sports nostalgia and this is the greatest event of that era. Like many of kids my age Michael Jordan was my idol and this dunk contest further cemented him as the greatest ever.

Now onto the dunk contest itself. One thing that the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest has in its favor is the format. I love how it was three rounds. The first round was only two dunks (top four dunkers advance) but the semi’s and finals were both three dunks. This is like getting extra Christmas presents compared to the 2000 format (two rounds, three dunks in round one, three dunkers advance to the finals where it’s only two dunks). Advantage 1988.

The fact that Clyde Drexler was also a participant in the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest is an afterthought. He was always the bridesmaid to Jordan and couldn’t hold Dominique’s jock strap when it came to dunking. This year was all about MJ and Nique.

In terms of dunking the 1988 Finals was the greatest display of dunking by two contestants ever. Of the six dunks in the finals there were four perfect scores of 50. As if that wasn’t good enough the winner was decided on the last dunk as Michael Jordan needed a 49 to win the title (talk about drama). Not to let his home crowd down he catapulted from the free throw line, soared through the air, and jammed one home that blew the roof off of Chicago Stadium. That is definitely the most iconic dunk ever and helped build the Jordan brand to where it is today.

I believe that the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest is one of the reasons why Lebron James will never be thought of as a greater basketball player than Michael Jordan. The greatest have all won the dunk contest (Kobe Bryant, Jordan, Dominique, Dr. J) and while it doesn’t make you a better player on the court (see Harold Miner, JR Rider) it does add a different aura of awesomeness to a players legacy that will never be forgotten by fans.

2000 – Vinsanity

Vince Carter’s arsenal of dunks in the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest were the greatest display of dunks ever. Yes, that includes anything that Michael Jordan or Dominique Wilkins did in the 1988 contest. He did things that we didn’t think were humanly possible and it left us all with our jaws dropped and jumping out of our seats. Think of the last time that you saw something and it caused you to get up out of your seat and run around. Vince Carter did that numerous times in this contest.

In 88′ Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins back and forth battle had more drama than all the seasons of the Real World combined. In 2000 there was no drama as Vince Carter left no doubt in anyones mind as to who was going to win. After each dunk we all couldn’t wait to see what he’d do next. No way that he could top what we believe was the greatest dunk that we’ve ever seen…and then he did.

Overlooked in the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest because of Vinsanity was the overall quality of dunks by the other participants, most notably Tracy McGrady and Steve Francis. In between all of us losing our shit the Franchise and T-Mac were throwing down monster jams that in any other year would have won them the title. Unfortunately for them they just so happened to be doing this the one year that unless you did a 360 from the charity stripe or dunked from the three point line there was going to be no way you could win. The 2000 Slam Dunk Contest does have to get some points for having three amazing dunkers instead of just two in 1988.

Final Verdict

This is about as tough a call as it gets. I watched Vince Carter’s between the legs dunk about 10 times yesterday (thank you Tivo) as I just couldn’t get enough of it. It’s absolutely amazing. I do, however, have to cast my vote for the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest as it was the most iconic ever and had more drama. The style, grace, and power that Jordan and Dominique displayed were out of this world. It was two of the three greatest dunkers ever (#1 Vince Carter, #2 Michael Jordan, #3 Dominique Wilkins) raising the bar for what a slam dunk contest should be. It had a lasting impression and changed my life forever.

Let’s keep this conversation going by letting us know which you think is the best dunk contest ever. Give us your thoughts below or hit us up on Twitter or Facebook.

At last night’s Pitt vs Seton Hall college basketball tilt we witnessed one of the better illegal moves in college basketball. Seton Hall center Gene Teague goes up for a dunk, misses it, the ball pops out and he continues to hold onto the rim while grabbing the rebound and trying to put it back. Teague gets an A+ for creativity, A+ for effort, and F for legality. That type of move might work in MTV’s Rock n Jock basketball but not in the Big East. Somewhere JaVale McGee is smiling at this and thinking about adding this to his repertoire.

For those who did not see it take a gander. It was one for the ages.

In between periods last night Deryk Engelland was interviewed and this is what his black eye looked like four days later. I thought that I was a man because I went to Home Depot once in the last month and threw away my Christmas tree but Engelland takes his dudeness to a whole other level. I’m pretty sure 99.5% of non-hockey players would be on the Mike Hampton-like DL with an injury like this but not Engelland. He was back in the lineup and even logging more minutes today because of an injury to another Penguins defender. The next time you complain about tweeking your back while getting out of bed or turning your ankle while grocery shopping think about WWDED – What Would Deryk Engelland Do?

If you were born between 1975-1985 then there is a good chance that you were a fan of the early 90′s Chicago Bulls if for no other reason than Michael Jordan. Since MJ and his squad hold a special place in my heart I thought that I’d drop an all Chicago Bulls edition of Five Random Videos. Amazingly I don’t include a single Michael Jordan highlight video and the only time that he appears is when Steve Kerr is talking trash to him. Ya, that’s how we roll. We’ll drop an all MJ edition some other time but these videos are just too fantastic too pass up.

1991 Mr. Submarine commercial where Scottie Pippen talks to a 6 foot sandwich

“This is one 6 footer that I can’t handle one on one…ladies…lets have a party”. I wonder what kind of party that is Scottie. Possibly one that involves no clothes and sipping copious amounts of champagne off each other? I can say with relative certainty that Scottie had a party with these two ladies where he showed them his footlong that they couldn’t handle one on one.

By the way, any time Scottie’s package comes into question I can only think of one thing. Just Google “Scottie Pippen Michael Jordan Madonna”. You’ll never think of Scottie the same way again.

Steve Kerr talking trash to Michael Jordan after hitting the game winning shot and the NBA title

This video only makes me like Steve Kerr even more. With so few opportunities to do so you’ve gotta lay it on MJ when you can. What better outlet than on the podium in front of the city of Chicago after winning the NBA title.

If you dig the work that Kerr does for TNT then you should check out an article we did on which NBA players most resemble certain announcers.

Horace Grant gets stuffed by Dikembe Mutomobo twice and the Nuggets run a putrid fast break

After watching that video I’ve come to a few conclusions. First, Dikembe Mutombo was a beast. This was never in question but it’s nice to be reminded of his dominance. Second, the Denver Nuggets are absolutely putrid at fast breaks. That last fast break that they ran was possibly one of the worst I’ve ever seen. They’ve got a four on one and they throw the ball out of bounds? WTF? Lastly, there were six shots shown in that video and none were taken by Michael Jordan. That has to be some sort of record. There’s a better chance of seeing Bigfoot hanging out with a unicorn then seeing this again.

Craig Hodges wearing the “NBA no team affiliated” jersey in the 1993 NBA three point shootout

This video is my unicorn. No joke I’ve searched for a picture/video/messenger pigeon telegram of Craig Hodges rocking the no team affiliated NBA jersey from the 1993 NBA three point shootout for years. Yes, YEARS. Give it a shot yourself. Aside from this video (which recently came out in the last few months) there is nothing out there visually showing this. That jersey is the holy grail of jerseys. I can now die a happy man.

I like how the announcers start with some pre-shootout drama that Mark Price didn’t want Craig Hodges in the shootout. When you are a white dude who rains jumpers you have to talk trash by hoping that your opponent is omitted from the competition. That’s weak sauce Mark Price. Didn’t you watch White Men Can’t Jump and learn anything from Billy Hoyle?

John Paxson doing a Schick razor commercial with his brother Jim

“Mr. Three point shooter used to miss three points on his face until I got him to shave with the Slim Twin disposable”. Uhhh what the hell does “miss three points on his face” mean? Am I to believe that when John Paxson shaved he’d clearly miss three different areas of his face? If so I think that we’ve got a much larger issue on our hands because even homeless people know how to shave properly even with just a one blade razor instead of a dope dual blade like the Slim Twin disposable. Sometimes my mind is blown by stuff that came from the early 90′s.

Chicago Bulls announcer Stacey King is a trip. He is a quote machine and half the time is just as entertaining as the game itself. In tonight’s Bulls vs Cavaliers game he dropped what has to be the quote of the night. It’s not often that you can talk about Luol Deng, the Cleveland Cavaliers guards, and Post Raisin Bran in the same sentence. I give Stacey King two scoops for that!
