Eric Montross Celtics Jersey

By July 10, 2012June 18th, 2018No Comments

Some Hoopsters want to rock jerseys of well know players like Clyde Drexler or David Robinson because the player was good. Others, like myself, enjoy the more obscure/average players because it touts our NBA knowledge and creativity. This Eric Montross Boston Celtics jersey definitely fits in the latter category and if it were not a size small I’d be all over this in a heartbeat.

Eric Montross was cut out of the same cloth as Greg Ostertag as he loved to rock the zero and was a big white center. Montross was drafted 9th overall in the first round by the Celtics and was slightly more than serviceable. He averaged 10 ppg and 7.3 boards his first year (he was named to the NBA All Rookie second team this year) then dropped down to 7.2 ppg and 5.8 boards in year two. That’s all she wrote for Montross as he was then shipped off with a 1st round pick (Samaki Walker) to the Dallas Mavericks for a 1st round pick (Antoine Walker) and a 1st round pick the following year (Ron Mercer). Baseketball-Reference.com lists Montross’ Hall of Fame probability as 0.000. One interesting nugget about Montross is that he was selected with the 1547th pick in the MLB draft by the Chicago Cubs in 1994. One other notable player drafted that year was Hines Ward (73rd round by the Florida Marlins).
