This weekend I had a bachelor party in Chicago where we went to the 3639 Wrigley Rooftop (which was an amazing place and I highly recommend) to watch the Cubs take on the Reds. With Cincinnati being only a 5 hour drive away there was a decent amount of Reds fans in attendance.
Here’s some of the fans that I encountered during the day and the awesome jerseys they rocked.
The award for best shirt of the weekend goes to this Kentucky Wildcats fan. As if UK didn’t have enough to cheer about because of their National Championship, why not take a jab at your step brother from the South. Awesome!
The best jersey of the weekend award goes to this Cincinnati Reds fan who was rocking a Rob Dibble jersey. I looked around for a Norm Charlton jersey but couldn’t find one.
I love throwback jerseys and this Eric Davis jersey was no exception. Did you know that in 1986 Eric Davis stole 80 bases in only 132 games? That was good enough for second in the NL behind Vince Coleman (107).
I saw the usual Chicago Cubs jerseys (Ryne Sandberg, Andre Dawson, Derrick Lee) out and about but it was this Greg Maddux jersey that caught my eye. Only the Cubs could screw something up like not resigning one of the greatest pitchers ever. He was coming off winning his first Cy Young award when his contract was up. Negotiations between the Cubs GM and Maddux agent Scott Boras went south and eventually the Cubs decided to pursue other free agents. Who were these guys you ask? Jose Guzman, Dan Plesac, and Candy Maldonado. Barf! Greg Maddux promptly won three straight Cy Young and 10 straight Gold Glove awards. I bet the Cubs would have liked to use their mulligan on that one.
As always, if you see a random jersey on the street snap a pic and send it to us on Instagram or Twitter @BaconSports and use #randomjersey. Click here to check out the most comprehensive guide to random jerseys ever.
