1992-upper-deck-basketball-cardsBa-ba-Boyz-II-Men. 1991’s new edition of NBA rookies looks like an R&B supergroup. Looking at these mint condition cards makes me sad with nostalgia. I loved that time of my life, and I wish I could make it last forever. It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

stacy-augmon-1992-upper-deckFirst up, you have “Plastic Man” Stacey Augmon in his white-tee, tucked in mind you, and acid wash jeans looking like a member of Blackstreet. He’s the bad boy type, so don’t get too close, ladies. Augmon spent the bulk of his career in Atlanta and Portland. He did play one year in Motown, but he never played for Philly. Augmon was a solid role player his entire career, but he never quite lived up to his potential. Don’t get it twisted though, he was no scrub.

terrell-brandon-1992-upper-deckTerrell Brandon is sporting a black on black ensemble with his Jesus piece gleaming in more of a Jodeci style. Hands on his hips, he stares at the camera with an expression that is one-third “freak me,” one-third “I’ll make love to you,” and one-third “I wanna sex you up.” Enough to make any woman weak in the knees.

greg-anthony-1992-upper-deckLastly, there is Greg Anthony, or Greg “Tony” for short. Or maybe “Toni” or “Tone” would be the correct spelling. He has the young innocent look of a Tevin Campbell. He wears a confident smile that says, “I’m Ready” and an unbuttoned shirt that’s three sizes too big. With this crew, it is no wonder that commissioner David Stern assumed the role of fashion police and implemented an NBA dress code. After retiring, Anthony was hired as an ESPN analyst. He had to pay his bills, bills, bills some way.

Well, we’ve come to the end of the road. That’s twenty ‘90s R&B references in one post, folks. Good luck finding them all.
