Mike’s Hard Lemonade commercial insults sports fans intelligence

It drives me nuts when commercials insult my intelligence or are just unrealistic. This Mike’s Hard Lemonade commercial is a great example of this and here’s a few reasons why.

It is inferred that this guy is the starting pitcher. He has given upĀ 9 hits and 12 runs in 2 innings including just giving up a 3 run bomb. What does it take for his Manager to pull him from the game? My only guess is that Dusty Baker is somehow the Manager, this guy is a young stud arm, and he’s waiting until after 100 pitches to pull him.

The catcher scolds the pitcher for only throwing curveballs but the last time I checked the catcher suggests to him what to throw. You’d think that after the pitcher shakes off every pitch other than the curveball that there already would have been a meeting at the mound.

The pitcher thinks that his curveball is working despite giving up 12 runs with zero errors. Had there been a few errors and a good chunk of those runs were unearned then maybe he has an argument. However, this isn’t the 85′ Astros who gave up 16 unearned runs en route to a 16-5 defeat. Therefore this guy is just dumb.

Here’s the scenario, you are at a baseball game with three other friends and it’s your turn to buy the next round. You come back to the seats with four Mike’s Hard Lemonade’s. How do your friends react….that’s what I thought. Mike’s Hard definitely chose the wrong scenario for this commercial because no guy drinks Mike’s Hard in public unless he is walking across a desert and is about to die of thirst. Even then he’d look both ways and possibly opt to try and suck out the juice of a cactus first.
