Muggsy Bogues Jersey

Wow Factor of the Random Jersey: 8.5 out of 10. You can tell that this Muggsy Bogues Hornets jersey was bought a long time ago due to the fading of the name. That factor plus it takes a special person to be a fan of an NBA player that is only 5’3″. Very solid.

Muggsy Bogues doesn’t get the love that Spud Webb did because he never won the Slam Dunk contest. However, Bogues could still ball despite being the size of a Kardashian. He was drafted 12th overall in the 87′ draft by the Washington Bullets (Reggie Miller was selected 11th that year). Here’s some notable picks after Bogues that year: Mark Jackson (18), Reggie Lewis (22) – who was his teammate in High School, and that’s about it. The rest of the draft (which was 7 rounds) was filled with garbage players.

Muggsy Bogues best season was 93′-94′ with the Hornets as he averaged a double double (10.8 ppg, 10.1 dimes) and also had 1.7 steals. He was an above average point guard that could dish the rock, play some D, and push the pace a bit. In his 14 seasons he only made $18.4 million (Yes ONLY. Consider that Rashard Lewis made over $20 million last season yet only averaged 11 ppg and 5 boards). Despite standing only 5’3″ Bogues had 39 blocked shots including one on Patrick Ewing.

After his playing career Muggsy Bogues had a brief stint as a WNBA coach that we’d all rather forget about. He did make up for that by appearing on an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Here’s a clip of it.
