The Black Hole is Football’s Most Notorious Fans. They are the passionate, crazy, and creatively dressed Raiders fans who reside in the south end zone of Oakland Coliseum and cheer on their Raiders while giving the opposing team absolute hell. They are dedicated to the Silver & Black, represent the best qualities in Raider Nation (loyalty, dedicate, pride, family & tradition), and are one of the most passionate fan clubs in all of sports.

Goal:

With our project for The Black Hole Fans our goal was to organically growth their followers across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, plus increase brand awareness & fan engagement.

Problem:

No Instagram account existed for The Black Hole Fans, the Twitter account had been inactive, and the content on Facebook had little brand voice or content mix. There was also no social media strategy in place which hurt the consistency and growth of the brand.

Because there was no budget for paid social all of the growth we were going to deliver had to be organic.

Format & Execution:

The first thing we did was put together a written social media strategy for The Black Hole Fans. This allowed us to set their goals, create a consistent brand voice, highlight their strengths, create categories for the types of content we were going to post, and then create an editorial calendar. Doing this allowed us to create a blueprint upon which we could consistently execute the strategy as well as engage and grow their community.

The content we created was a combination of real time, evergreen, and user generated. This allowed us to speak to what was going on each week during the Raiders season, while also throwing it back to the rich history of the Raiders (which fans very much relate to, especially when the team has a losing record), plus involve The Black Hole Fans community as much as possible. Because the engagement across each of the social channels had been low, there was a strong emphasis on giving fans an opportunity to send in pictures and videos celebrating their Raiders fandom.

Testimonial:

At the end of 2018 The Black Hole Fans was in need of a professional social media/content savvy group who could take our following, tie it together and grow engagement on various platforms. Over a 3 month period, Bacon Sports was able to do just that growing our fan experience socially by leaps and bounds. They also took our activity to new heights while presenting The Black Hole Fans in a manner pleasing to our sponsors.
