This is the journey of 13 dudes, 2 RV’s, and one amazing SEC Road Trip to last year’s LSU vs Alabama showdown in Tuscaloosa. I’ve been sitting on this footage for 11 months now but didn’t get a chance to post it because at the time we were working on putting the finishing touches on our first Bacon, Sports & Beer Celebration. This same crew of guys are going to be taking two RV’s down to Texas A&M at Auburn game this upcoming weekend (we are dubbing it the Redhook Road Trip) so I figured this would give you a good primer for what’s to come.
I’ve never been to an SEC football game before and since I live in Chicago I tailgate way less frequently than the sports fan in me would like. That’s why going on SEC Road Trips like this kick even more ass. I wanted to see how the so-called best of the best get down, tailgate, and what they are like during the biggest home game of the season. In order to heighten the experience I bought an Alabama hat and houndstooth bow tie, obnoxiously yelled Roll Tide all weekend, and temporarily became an Alabama fan.
As you can image this road trip ended up being as awesome as finding out the Contra code for the first time. This is a photo and video diary of the fun and awesomeness that went down on our SEC Road Trip.
The crew.
When you fill the fridge full of beer the likelihood of it spilling out while the RV is moving is very high.
Let’s see what down south stuff we can find at the rest stop.
SEC traffic is no joke. This was 50 miles out.
Get 13 dudes in 2 RV’s and bad good ideas like this are bound to happen.
The RV lot is filled with professional tailgaters. It’s like mobile heaven!
One of the girls in this group was from the city in Alabama where the famous Leprechaun video is from. Everybody who see the leprechaun say YAH!!!!
Sweet 1985 computer.
We spent a crap ton of time at the Houndstooth. Good times.
SEC lines.
This was my first experience with this ring toss bar game. So simple yet so hard.
Broken beer bottle? No problem for a college kid.
nWo 4-Life!
SEC Nachos.
You can’t tailgate all day unless you start in the morning.
This crew likes to get down so why not throw an impromptu Blackstreet slash 2Pac concert?
And now some bro dancing.
Our MVP of the road trip shows us his jets in a parking lot 40-yard dash.
And now we showcase our tailgating athleticism.
Roll Tide!
Here is a Pimp My Ride style video of this Alabama car plus a quick run in I had with Nick Saban.
The levels of obnoxious and elitist of the Alabama Crimson Tide and SEC shirts were out of this world. SEC pride is no joke with them.
College GameDay was in the house so I stopped by to see what sort of fun signs and crazy Alabama fans I could find.
This is a good reminder that Oregon typically chokes every year (they had just lost to Stanford.)
Freaking SEC yinzers.
This girl is the winner of the weekend and is going to make someone very happy one day. Major props for the Pistol Pete jersey and helmet combo.
If this doesn’t remind you of Alabama I don’t know what does.
Our boy Scott was the costume winner of the SEC Road Trip with this amazing Alabama marching band outfit. Bravo.
Our seats for the game.
A successful SEC Road Trip that no down lived up to its billing. Roll Tide!
