Chive Fest Chicago rolled into town and with it came 2 Chainz, Matt and Kim, Empire of the Sun, a whole lot of Chivers and Chivettes, and a ridiculous amount of fun. Since we like to cover the intersection of sports and awesomeness I wanted to give you a first hand look at my experience. My day was filled with lots of dancing, making new friends, tracking down jerseys, and letting people know about the Bacon, Sports & Beer Celebration.
I put all of the photos below on our Facebook page so if you see yourself or one of your friends make sure tag the picture. Enjoy.
And the day begins.
Immediately upon entering it started pouring. We took shelter under a tree. The rain didn’t phase these Chivers one bit.
Snap into a Slim Jim!
This beer vendor was super jacked.
Loser buys the beer. Great idea.
Little did we all know that this would be the first of many photos together.
Roll Tide!
“When a man loves a woman.” Yep, that’s a Rod Stewart tattoo.
Myself and Taylor from Redhook. She’s the best and can cut a major rug.
Hartford. The Whale. They beat Vancouver once, maybe twice in a lifetime.
Bravo on the Converse All Star tattoo.
It was a toasty day out so rocking jeans and a long sleeve was a bit aggressive. But who am I to argue, his team won the College Football National Championship last year.
These two guys are winners. Twercules is hilarious and I love me some Boston Market.
Creative tip jars will always get one from me.
This is one of the dumbest games I’ve ever seen (which is saying something considering we played Knife Catch at my bachelor party). A bunch of people stand in the middle of a giant circle and put cups on their heads. Everyone on the outside of the circle throws frisbees at them trying to knock off the cups. As you can imagine there is only one winner in this game and it’s not the people in the middle.
I’ve seen Matt and Kim eight times so I was super pumped that they were part of the Chive Fest Chicago lineup. They definitely get the crowd dancing and bring the pain. Let’s Get Weird!
If you are having a good time put your hands in the air.
Here’s a video of some of the fun and awesomeness from Matt and Kim’s set.
Absolutely love these Wu-Tang socks. We have Wu-Tang Friday’s in the Bacon Sports office where we bump 36 Chambers.
One of the things that was so awesome about Chive Fest Chicago was the community. Even this guy in a wheelchair got after it and was crowd surfing.
Roller Coaster!
Roller Coaster!
Got a Chivette getting in on the throwing frisbees at your head action.
A girl to the right of these guys was rolling around in the grass and her nipple popped out. These guys caught it and as you can see from their reaction it was a welcomed sight.
Who’s ready for a photo shoot?!
Roller Coaster!
Laying an egg.
Piece of bacon.
Shooting range.
My new friend Karmen from Redhook. She’s awesome.
Mother Nature decided that she had enough of all this fun and sent down torrential rain and lightning. We all had to head into Soldier Field.
Throw a bunch of drunk people in Soldier Field with no beer and some crazy stuff is bound to happen.
As Ollie Williams would say, “It’s gonna rain!”
Add this to the list of stupid things done today. Security sent us into Soldier Field so that we wouldn’t get struck by lightning. Upon entering Solider Field we decided to go out to the upper deck where it’s really high and open and take photos.
After about 5 minutes of no beer everyone got very restless and patriotic. This is the rowdiness that ensued.
Time for another photo shoot.
Roller Coaster!
Cooking breakfast.
Chopping wood.
This girl was a blast. Obviously.
Another photo shoot.
Roller Coaster!
Patriotism.
Winning!
And we are back!
Little baby rainbow trying to peak his head out.
I love me some rap music so I was all about 2 Chainz being at Chive Fest Chicago.
2 Chainz absolutely crushed it. There’s nothing like seeing girls getting down to “I’m a be fresh as hell if the Fed’s watchin.”
Get it Tiger.
Time for another photo shoot.
Patriotism.
Saw a ghost.
Kayaking.
Helping someone over a wall.
This Chiver just stood there and gave everyone High 5’s. Ain’t nothing wrong with High 5’s.
While between sets I decided to do a Dance Challenge. How long would it take for someone to dance with me?
Holy Ghost!
I’d never seen Empire of the Sun before but heard that they tore up Coachella so I was super excited to see them. Their show was like being in the movie Tron.
The visuals were crazy good.
Here’s a taste of the awesomeness that went down on stage and in the crowd during Empire of the Sun’s set.
As we were leaving Chive Fest the last person I saw was this Chivette rocking a Brad Daughtery Cavs jersey. This makes me so happy.
This will kick off the jerseys that were being rocked at Chive Fest Chicago. The demographic was younger than other festivals so while there were plenty of jerseys being rocked, the randomness of the jerseys was a bit low.
If only this were a Brad Miller jersey.
These Bill Murray Tune Squad jerseys were very popular, for obvious reasons.
Only one person got that I was rocking a Cherokee Parks jersey and knew who that was. About ten other people asked who he was and had no clue. Sad face.
I was hoping this was a Rick Mirer or Ron Pawlus Notre Dame jersey.
Too much of my delight it was a Jerome Bettis jersey. As a Steelers fan I was very happy to see this. Well done!
This MJ jersey looked like a knock-off.
Ramon spelled backwards is Nomar.
This hoopster was going hard in the paint with his Mighty Ducks hat, Muggsy Bogues Hornets jersey, and Umbros.
Bears fans are pumped for the Jared Allen era.
This was my second favorite jersey of Chive Fest. The Legend.
Chive Fest Chicago was an absolutely blast. The music was phenomenal, the people were super friendly and a ton of fun, and if you get a chance to hit up one of their other three Chive Fest’s I highly recommend it.
Chive on.
I want to hear from you. What was your experience like at Chive Fest Chicago? Who was your favorite act? Holla at me on Twitter @BaconSports, and don’t forget to tag yourself on Facebook if you are in one of the photos.t
