NFL free agency starts tomorrow and what better way to kick off the signing period than by commemorating one of the mediocre signings the Steelers had.

Duce Staley was a stud on the Eagles when healthy. He ran like a bowling ball and was a good receiver out of the backfield. That sort of combo made his signing in Pittsburgh very tantalizing, especially when teamed up with an even larger bowling ball in Jerome Bettis.

My lasting memory of Duce Staley is Bill Cowher telling him sorry for not getting him in the game during Super Bowl XL in Detroit on the Super Bowl DVD. Despite this I’ll always think positively about Duce Staley because he was the type of player you wanted to root for, even if he didn’t live up to expectations because of injuries.

By the way, did you know Jerome Bettis is from Detroit?

As for this yinzer in the Duce Staley jersey and jorts, this was captured at Pirates Spring Training. Yinzing has no offseason.

Now excuse me while I go look for a Troy Edwards jersey on eBay.
