Over a 9-month contract as Creative Director for DraftPros, a daily fantasy sports information and analytics website, I hosted a 5 day a week, live streaming, daily fantasy football show called Show Me The Money. My goal was to create a daily fantasy football show unlike anything in the DFS industry.
Many daily fantasy football shows are overly stat heavy and impersonal, lacking a true engagement with the fans, and have two male hosts. That’s why I flipped the script, brought on a super talented and knowledgable female co-host (Rachel Brady), increased fan interaction, and created what was described as the SportsNation of daily fantasy football shows. We were there to entertain while also dropping knowledge and helping players win on DraftKings & FanDuel.
Over 100+ episodes we organically saw anywhere from 250-1500 YouTube video views per show. One thing to consider with this number is that our shows only had a shelf life of one to five days because after that week of the NFL season the information was no longer relevant (since it’s on to the next week where all the games and matchups are different.)
As the flagship show for DraftPros we helped organically increase YouTube subscribers for their channel from zero to 565 in just one NFL season.
Working with Rob at DraftPros it became increasingly clear that he always delivers. His commitment to quality was consistently evident in the video and written content he produced as Creative Director. More importantly, his genuine enthusiasm for sports was a critical ingredient in building an amazing culture at our company. He went far and beyond his job requirements to contribute with insightful marketing tactics that helped create our unique brand identity. He was a trooper, always was willing to do whatever needed to get done, and to boot the guy is absurdly funny. He was a treasure to our company.

Things I learned:
Script writing: I researched and wrote the script for the show every day in fine detail. That’s over 100 scripts written. Preparation for the show was crucial as we were giving out daily fantasy football advice, so we couldn’t just show up, turn on a camera, and hope to be good. We had to know our stuff to build credibility with our fans and make it a well rounded daily fantasy football show. I pride myself on the highest standards of excellence and the script writing was no exception.
Camera work: I was in front of a camera live for 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week. There is very little margin for error when the show is live. I learned to adapt, have fun, and be very comfortable in front of a camera.
Working with a co-host: Part of what made Rachel & I great together was our ability to build rapport with each other as the shows progressed. I learned from my years doing improv and comedy at Second City that when the lights are on it’s a team game. My goal is to elevate Rachel as much as possible since we are in this together.
Working with a green screen & lighting: We shot this out of my home studio with a green screen as the backdrop. We were flanked by lighting on both sides of us and in front. I now know what it takes to produce a high quality, professional show in a less than optimal setting.
