imaunicorn-firstAre you a girl that likes sports? If so you’ve found a new place you can call home. We call girls that like sports “unicorns” and we are looking for our first Bacon Sports Unicorn of the Week. Let me explain.

The origin of the terms unicorn is pretty simple. From a guy’s perspective finding a girl who really likes sports and is awesome at the same time is rare and amazing like a unicorn. Guys love sports. Guys love girls that like sports.

There are different levels of unicorns but we can get into that later. Just know that if you are a girl that has worn a hat, jersey, t-shirt, slippers, panties, gloves, tossle cap, or snuggie of a sports team (pro or college), has at one time made cookies with colorful frosting and maybe even cute little sprinkles that had a players number or team logo on it, or knows who Eric Decker is and not just from his reality show on E! then you are a unicorn.

We love unicorns and feel that they need to be celebrated. There is something fantastic about a girl that can rock a hat or jersey, talk about who her favorite for the Heisman Trophy is, or that can…gulp…beat you at fantasy football.

There are unicorns among us and we must find them! That’s where we need your help. Are you a girl that like sports? Then holla. Guys, do you know girls that like sports? Then you holla for them or tell them to holla at us.

Each week we are going to have a Unicorn of the Week. An honor meant to celebrate the wonderfulness of female sports fans. We will have four Unicorns of the Week and then have a Unicorn of the Month competition. We’ll have 12 Unicorns of the Month and then declare a Unicorn of the Year!

It’s easy to be considered for Unicorn of the Week. All we need you to do is tweet us @BaconSports or hit us up on Facebook one thing that represents your sports fandom. This can be a YouTube video, picture, link, something sports related that you found on Google, a meme, joke, random athlete, whatever. The more creative, badass, nostalgic, funny, or random the better. When you tweet us make sure to use our newly created hashtag #imaunicorn. Be proud that you are a female that love sports!

What happens if you are selected as Unicorn of the Week?

We are going to celebrate your sports fandom and highlight what makes you special. You’ll be the center of attention and get an opportunity to show everyone what makes you a unique unicorn. We’ll send you over a handful of fun sports related questions for you to answer. These questions could include (to give you a taste):

  • Who is your favorite athlete?
  • Who is your least favorite athlete?
  • Select a sports video that represents you. We’ll judge you based on what you select. This can be an awesome highlight, something funny, an interview, whatever. You get an opportunity to show you sports creativity. Choose wisely.
  • What is your greatest sports memory?
  • What is your biggest sports heartbreak?
  • What is the best game you’ve ever been to?
  • What or who is your sports guilty pleasure?
  • What is your favorite sports movie?
  • Tell us about an encounter you’ve had with an athlete.

We want to focus on your sports fandom, not your looks. However, part of being a unicorn is repping your fandom. We’ll want you to send us over a picture of you in a jersey, sports gear, playing sports, or something of the like.

So spread the good word of unicorns Bacon Nation. Tweet us, use hashtag #imaunicorn, and let your girlfriends that like sports know what’s going down.
