Dennis Rodman Mavericks Jersey Sighting
Hoopster Nation really likes to come out at concerts and street festivals and this weekend was no exception. The Scottie Pippen rule that I talked about last week applies to the following Dennis Rodman Dallas Mavericks jersey.
By a show of hands, how many of you remembered that Dennis Rodman played for the Dallas Mavericks? I’m guessing not many of you. Dallas was the last stop on Rodman’s fantastic 14 year career. While in Dallas he only played in 12 games and even though his scoring was pretty much non-existant (2.8 ppg) he averaged 14.3 boards. Only Dennis Rodman could find a way to be completely obsolete on the offensive side of things and so thoroughly dominating on the defensive/boards side. Steve Nash had a quote where he said that Rodman, “never wanted to be a Maverick and therefore was unmotivated”. Last time I checked there were plenty of unmotivated NBA players and I can’t remember any of them that could give you 14 boards per game like that.
Here’s a few things that you probably didn’t know about Dennis Rodman:
- He only played in two All Star games yet is in the NBA Hall of Fame.
- In college he averaged 25.7 ppg and 15.7 boards over three years at Southeastern Oklahoma St.
- In 1995 he was traded by the San Antonio Spurs to the Chicago Bulls for Will Purdue. Let that one marinade for a second. Rodman went on to lead the league in rebounding in each of his three seasons with the Bulls.
Shout out to our friend Jim Cook for this fantastic jersey find.
