british-open-best-ball-challengeHello Friends. Two Majors down (none for Tiger) and now it’s time to head across the pond for the 142nd edition of the British Open at Muirfield. The British Open has been held at Muirfield 15 times and 13 of those winners are in the World Golf Hall of Fame. Only the strong shall survive and the same holds true with our Best Ball Challenge.

We know that for many of you golf is a sport that you only watch during the Majors or while napping and hungover on the weekend. That’s why we are spicing it up a bit to keep you slightly more interested and get your fantasy juices flowing. Like we did for the Masters and the US Open we put together a Best Ball US Open Challenge (via ESPN).

For those that participated in the Masters/US Open Challenge this is the third part of the overall challenge to declare the grand winner of our Majors Challenge. If you didn’t take part in either of the first two challenges don’t worry. We give out prizes for each of the Majors so the only thing you’d be missing out on is the opportunity to win the grand prize.

The format is pretty simple. You’ve got a salary cap and have to draft four golfers. You can change your lineup each round if you’d like (thought you don’t have to but it’s highly recommended). Here’s the actual rules/format (which was hard to find on their site):

1. Foursomes. All golfers in the tournament fields are assigned a salary value based on a combination of their current world rank, previous year results and projected finish. Entrants must select four (4) golfers to form a complete active foursome while staying under the specified entry salary cap of $50M. Golfer’s rating values are set and will not change for the duration of the Segment. Foursomes that exceed the entry rating limit will receive no points.  Entrant must make new selections at the beginning of each Segment.

2. Scoring. The Promotion uses a “best ball” scoring format. During the Segment, the hole-by-hole score for each of the golfers on your foursome will be compared for each hole of the Segment. The lowest number of strokes credited to a golfer on your foursome will be your score for each hole (Example: If three golfers finish a hole with four strokes and one finishes with three, you will receive a score of three). The scores for each regulation hole (playoffs not included) will be aggregated and will represent your final score for the Segment.

We’ll be giving away one of our Tecmo Bowl Bacon Sports t-shirts to the first place winner and second place will receive 2 Bacon Sports “Canadian Bacon Punts on 3rd down” koozies.

Here’s the link to join on ESPN (it’s free). Feel free to forward on to others as the more entries the better.

Make sure that you stay up to date on the various fantasy games and challenges that we run during the year BY JOINING OUR EMAIL LIST. We know that you don’t want to receive boatloads of emails from us and quite frankly we don’t have the time to send you tons of emails. That’s why we’ll only send you stuff when it’s worth it. We want to help make your sports rooting experience better!

If you are a Jim Nantz fan then don’t forget to check out our custom Hello Friends t-shirt. It’s one of a kind and by far the coolest golf shirt you’ll find.
