Eric Dickerson was wearing turtlenecks way before Steve Jobs, and he was the NFL’s rec specs ambassador. The MLB and NBA had their own rec specs ambassadors in Chris Sabo and Horace Grant, but the NHL has yet to break the Rec Specs barrier. For more on the awesomeness of rec specs, check out our fashion battle Rec Specs vs. Neck Pads.
This NFL season marks the 30th anniversary of Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing record of 2,105 yards. With the NFL continually trending toward more pass-oriented offenses, this may be a record left standing unless the regular season is increased to 18 games. Then again, Adrian Peterson did finish a mere eight yards off the mark in 2012. I can’t help but think, had he been wearing rec specs, he would have seen at least a few more holes to run through and easily crushed Dickerson’s record.
